Is there anything more dramatic than black? With neutrals and bold colour pops being the order of 2019, where does black, which was emerging in 2018 in kitchen and bathroom hardware, stand amongst the finishes?
The good news is it’s here and it’s only getting stronger. Matt black will continue as a dramatic effect without choosing a colour, and can work with deeper floor colouring options.
Black in the right places can instantly create a sophisticated vibe; whether you’re opting for opulent, rich fabrics and finishes, using black to tie it together for a moody and seductive finish, or using hints of black to give your minimalist interior a level of sophistication.
If the Milan design shows are anything to go by, black can be used in hints, to add depth to a space, or, be used in swathes as kitchens become entirely clad in matt black carpentry, dressed up with interior hanging greenery.
Want to go bold? Try teaming black kitchen cabinetry with light hickory herringbone flooring for an unrivalled level of sophistication. Or, flip it around and try a dark stained herringbone floor on a pale neutral palette.
Not ready to commit to a particular pastel or rich colour in your high traffic areas but following the colour pop theme? Matt black teamed with accents of colour is a great way to tone down the brashness of dramatic and bold, while still keeping the drama.
Matt black featured heavily and will continue into 2019. If you want a dramatic effect without committing to a colour then black is the way to go. In the bathroom black is a great way to modernise without being tied to a colour, we’re seeing basins, bath tubs, fittings and metal shelving in bold matt black finishes.
